The programme of the concert will feature Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 21 by Fryderyk Chopin, composed in 1830, one of the composer’s most important and most frequently performed piano concertos. The work consists of three movements and combines the virtuosity of the soloist with rich orchestration, forming a key part of the piano repertoire worldwide.
The second part of the evening will present Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World” by Antonín Dvořák, written during the composer’s stay in the United States. The symphony is known for its melodic themes and inspiration drawn from American music, combining elements of European tradition with characteristic rhythms and moods of the New World.
The performers will be pianist Kate Liu, laureate of the third prize and the audience award at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, known for her participation in prestigious international competitions and numerous concerts worldwide, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Krzysztof Urbański.
