CHOPIN+

One of the most spectacular piano works in the history of music. At the heart of the programme is Fryderyk Chopin’s brilliant Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise in E-flat major, Op. 22.

The concert opens and concludes with operatic overtures as well as colourful suites and dances, featuring music by Stanisław Moniuszko, Gioachino Rossini, Antonín Dvořák, Georges Bizet and Johannes Brahms. The programme includes excerpts from the opera Carmen, Slavonic Dances and Hungarian Dances.

On the piano, Krzysztof Wierciński, with the Chopin University Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Antoni Wit – a legendary master and honorary doctor of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.

As part of the Central Music Square Festival, performed on the open-air stage in front of the Palace of Culture and Science.
